This spring will be a busy one.  I have 8 performance to conduct in a 6 month span.   There will be between 42 and 46 pieces of music performed during that time.    Aging as a conductor is not always a bad thing because this usually means that one has previously conducted at least some of the repertoire that is coming up.   I'm lucky to have 3 fabulous graduate conducting students to take some of the load off me.

I often consider what life would be like to not have this constant pressure of upcoming performances.   I have obviously chosen a career as an artist and therefore I think it's very important to support my art until I decide to do it no longer.   This means bringing to life notes on a printed page....notes that would not be heard or at least not be heard as often if I didn't have the privilege or ability to reconstruct these great works.   In addition I will once again enter the realm of operatic and musical theater direction the during the spring in preparation for next year.  It's going to be a busy time.

It's going to be an action packed spring - especially with my own son completing his senior year of high school and his final season as a high school baseball player and with my 7th grade daughter winning a lead in the school play.   This will undoubtedly be one of the most interesting, busy and productive years I've ever had.
